With less than a week to go for the much anticipated Sunburn Goa edition to kick off, the buzz in the air is absolutely electric! People over social media are counting down the hours before they can get away from their busy work schedules to escape into the musical abyss that will be Sunburn Goa! With the Phase 1 lineup announced nearly a month ago and some more new additions with the Phase 2 lineup being announced, Sunburn seems to be the place where the party will be coming down!

On close observation, there is discernible evidence that Team Sunburn have gone all out to diversify their portfolio this time around. Promising a festival BIGGER & BOLDER than ever before, the artist lineup boasts of some of the biggest dance music contemporaries ranging from genres from deep & tech to commercial & electro house. But its the Techno artists that Sunburn have included that particularly catch our eye!

Ever since launching their bold ‘Afterburn’ stage last month at their Sunburn B2B in Mumbai & Bangalore, Sunburn have taken a keen interest in making sure that purists of the deeper more underground sound, get their money’s worth by including the biggest stars of the Tech genres in their festival experience. Though the sound has invariably been around, but to have it part of such a big stage like Sunburn, is a definitive step in the genre’s acceptance to the EDM fan-base of India. Over the last year, more and more Techno & other Underground genre based gigs have found an audience in contemporary club settings, thus not only educating them about the roots of the genre but also presenting them with an alternate soundscape that is perhaps more melodic and groove oriented than the contemporary music they are used to. Just imagining the smooth, silky and progressive grooves that these underground sounds will unwind on audiences, all amongst the backdrop of the glistening ocean and an open sky adorned with a million stars, is just giving us goosebumps! We predict that the Techno sound is going to be one of the major highlights of the historic & prestigious festival!

Artists we are going to watch take over the Sunburn stage who represent the pure sounds of the Underground genres include the following:

James Zabiela Earlier a more breakbeat and house music oriented DJ, Zabiela is now renowned as one of the most supremely technical-skilled DJ’s of the planet. His control over the turntable and his wide use of effects, loops and samples has regarded him as one of the best in the business.

Kohra Known for his deep, melodic and often grungy skills over the turntable, Kohra has the reputation of being one of the most intelligent and versatile acts over the turntable in India.

Big City Harmonics Pune based Rohan Astak will present his organic ever-evolving sounds through his Big Ciy moniker.

Tapan Raj More renowned as one half of the famous Midival Punditz, Tapan Raj is regarded as the finest “musical technician” of our country. With a humbling career of a staggering number of live performance, Tapan is a sure shot bet on painting the night a delightful ‘electronica’!

Dickster Known primarily for his Psychedelic sounds, the recent shift in the genres of chill-out electronica, will provide the perfect ambiance to the setting sun amidst the Vagator skyline!

Kash Trivedi With tons of turntable experience, Karsh Trivedi is certainly an Indian act you’d be proud to represent! His sets are curated of thoughtful and emotive breaks and tracks, as he will provide the perfect tech-sound to move your feet!

Mark Storie Sounds of Funk, Techno and Deep House will roar from the speakers when this legend takes centerstage! His ability to control the crowd through his master skills and playlist curation is a well known fact and something we all really look forward to!
