Grooveshark lose a director to a violent murder

An executive of Grooveshark was shot and murdered in a parking lot in St. Petersburg, Florida over the weekend during the course of what seems to have been a heated argument gone wrong in front of the local supermarket.

The local outlet WCJB (an ABC affiliate) has reported that Eddy Vasquez, the company’s director of international sales, was shot in the chest by a man named Andres Torres, who was later arrested at his apartment and the firearm was recovered.

Consistently struggling through copyright lawsuits, the 7 year old company went on to release the statement below following the tragic incident:

Grooveshark as a company mourns the tragic loss of one of its employees, Eddy D. Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez was visiting friends and family in the Tampa Bay area over the weekend when he fell victim to a senseless act of violence.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Eddy’s family, friends and co-workers in this time of mourning. We hope he rests in peace.
