Gig Review: Kitty Su’s 2nd Anniversary Party with Deniz Koyu

One of the best nightclubs around town, Kitty Su had been celebrating their 2nd anniversary in style, with an entire month packed with gigs, which featured some of the best homegrown talents and international acts from the dance music industry.
A number of extraordinary gigs packed with energy led up to the night many had been waiting for. The club had just for a while kept revelers guessing about who would be the special headlining act for its anniversary gig and after a little teasing declared that it would be none other than one of the best DJ/producers in the industry, Deniz Koyu with some special guests. The announcement generated a tremendous buzz and a number of dance music fans couldn’t contain their excitement at catching one of the finest in action, live.
Koyu’s course to becoming a DJ/producer was set at the tender age of five when he began to learn the piano. It didn’t take long until he discovered his enthusiasm for synthesizers and drums, getting inspiration from artists such as Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Kraftwerk or Cassius. It came as no surprise as he followed suit, spending his pocket money on all the second-hand synths and drum machines he could find. Through his teenage years, Deniz spent his days DJing and editing his favourite tracks using small tape recorders and sampling whatsoever he could.
Truly his talent was evident there and then and a little while after his formative years, it has been one tremendous release after another, which have earned him a number of accolades and there has been no looking back ever since.
Ever since stepping into the industry, Deniz has made a mark for himself. In the past, ace Swedish producer Sebastian Ingrosso had called him a “big time talent”, and Swedish House Mafia and now Departures collaborator, Axwell in an interview had replied to a question posed by a Swedish journalist wherein he was asked if he had any personal favourites among young DJ’s saying, “Deniz Koyu. He is making damn cool music at the moment”. Another known entity in the dance music industry, Fedde Le Grand voted Deniz as the ‘Breakthrough DJ/Producer’ in 2011.
Coming to the night, it went without saying that this was going to be one extremely special night for Kitty Su and there was going to be definitely much more in it, than just a stellar array of artists playing. The festivities and attractions began right from the entry to the hotel where a large sign on the hotel door proclaimed the club’s 2nd anniversary. Moving a little ahead, to the entry of the club, there were miniature champagne bottles being given to certain guests, which further marked the grand celebrations.
We entered the venue to an energetic crowd, which had packed the club completely. At the console our very own homegrown talent, Anish Sood, who had come in as a special guest was throwing down some massive tunes which were making all those who were present groove and have the time of their lives. There was not a soul who wasn’t on their feet.

To add to the spectacular night we were also treated to extraordinarily talented club dancers who performed in front of the console and kept the energy flowing and building at several instances during the night.

After a pounding set by Anish, it was time for the man himself, Deniz Koyu to take stage and enthrall all who were present. Deniz wasted absolutely no time and launched directly into his set, kicking off with a host of bangers. Delivering what was going to be one of the best sets the club had witnessed, he kept the energy up and the spirits of the crowd high.

The crowd roared the loudest when Koyu went on to drop, Quintino’s recently released banger “Puzzle” which has been making quite a mark for itself, as also when he dropped his own smash hit, “Follow You”. The drop of the track was perfectly synced with magnificent confetti poppers and the dancers going up to the front of the console to show off their moves added to the loud cheer, which the track had already generated.
As Deniz rounded up his set and finished off with his last track, there were more fireworks in store for us, only this time grander and more captivating. After rounding up his set, he stepped aside of the console as another of our domestic festival regulars and Kitty Su resident, DJ Mash took to the console, to keep the energy Koyu had left us with going. Meanwhile, Deniz being the cheerful person he is, happily posed for photographs with a few revelers.
To conclude, we would like to express our gratitude to the team at Kitty Su and would like to congratulate the team on their 2nd anniversary and a splendid night of celebration.
