UMF Stage Lighting Fixture Collapses!

Earlier today, while setting up the main stage for the Ultra Music Festival (which begins today!), an LED screen collapsed on two workers, critically injuring both of them. Two additional workers were also injured by falling equipment, but were treated on the spot and are in stable condition.

Fire Rescue officials were present at the site and were able to act as quickly as possible in ensuring that the incident does not escalate further or land into any fatalities. The Fire Rescue officials reported the incident as life-threatening. The former two workers that suffered critical injuries were rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The accident occured around 8 P.M, when an LED screen was being hoisted up into the air to be fixed on to the stage, but instead, lost control and collapsed on the two workers. The stage was apparently to be used by the Swedish trio, Swedish House Mafia; One of the many huge acts coming down to perform for Ultra Music Festival. Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll said the fire marshal and investigators would return to the scene in the daylight to begin working to determine what caused the accident.
Ultra Music Festival released a statement on Facebook saying:
Today (Thursday, March 14) as preparations were being made for this weekend’s Ultra Music Festival, a section of an LED screen fell and injured two workers. Fire Rescue was on site so there was a rapid response. Festival organizers are working with, and supporting, authorities as they investigate the details behind the accident.
There happens to be a video grab on the incident captured from an Earth Cam. The said video can be viewed below:
