Dance Music Gains Recognition In Grammy Nomination List

The 55th annual Grammy Awards are back and once again we have these iconic awards making way and giving recognition to all those achievers in the EDM fraternity.

This years sees nominations sees many of the heavyweights fighting it out in the Best Dance Recording category:

Skrillex who won this award last year is back again with his track “Bangarang” featuring Sirah being nominated

Calvin Harris joins in with his collaboration with Ne-Yo called “Let’s Go”

Then how could you keep Sweden out of the picture when it comes to EDM?

Avicii and Swedish House Mafia also join in with their bangin tracks “Levels” and “Don’t You Worry Child”

The last pick of this category is perhaps the most controversial one. The unknown but now famous DJ from Switzerland – Al Walser is nominated for his track “I Can’t Live Without You”.  The outrage on Walser’s nomination was so much that many EDM insiders consider this as a big joke. Dance producer Morgan Page even tweeted saying “This song got nominated for Best Dance Single @TheGrammys? Pls tell me this is Borat”

The following three categories also make up for the different areas where EDM is represented:

Best Dance/Electronica Album:

Wonderland – Steve Aoki

Don’t Think – The Chemical Brothers

> Album Title Goes Here < – Deadmau5

Fire & Ice – Kaskade

Bangarang – Skrillex

Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical:

Dan Auerbach

Jeff Bhasker

JeffBhasker

Diplo

Markus Dravs

Salaam Remi

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical:

In My Mind (Axwell Remix) – Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl

Lie Down In Darkness (Photek Remix) – Moby

Midnight City (Eric Prydz Private Remix) – M83

Promises (Skrillex & Nero Remix) – Nero

The Veldt (Tommy Trash Remix) – Deadmau5

We here at Bangin Beats congratulate each and every artist who has been nominated in the above categories! The year of 2012 had been massive for Dance Music and it makes us very happy to see that the talent is being appreciated.

On another note, we couldn’t help but remember how Deadmau5 played a prank on Skrillex at last year’s ceremony by wearing a t-shirt that had Skrillex’s cell number on it!

One wonder what’s in store for tonight’s ceremony if either of them wins?
