Throwback Thursday-Tiësto

Wow. This is a special #Tbt as it divulges into the rich history of a true legend who has taken us on a roller coaster journey as he  has mastered his craft: Tiësto. The Dutch musician was ranked number 1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll 3 consecutive years (2002-2004) and has deservingly ranked in the top 5 every year since. He has 4 studio albums out, In My Memory (2001), Just Be (2004), Elements of Life (2007), and Kaleidoscope (2009). Tiësto he has seen prolific success in many way, as he was the first dj to perform live on stage at an Olympic Games Opening Ceremony which occurred in Athens in 2004. He has also had an outstanding weekly podcast show, called Club Life, and has had many different stints as a resident dj in both Ibiza and Las Vegas. Narrowing the music down to 4 songs was tough, but included in this article are 4 songs that came out during different eras of Tiesto’s career: Lethal Industry, Adagio for Strings, Feel it in my Bones, and Don’t Ditch.

Lethal Industry

This was definitely one of the song’s that created major exposure for Tiësto on his way to superstardom. It was the house music anthem for many years, and is still viewed in high regard by EDM enthusiasts.

Adagio for Strings

This song was produced around the time he was preparing to Dj the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Athens, marking another memorable milestone in his career. This song does that milestone 100% justice.

Feel it in my Bones

This song came out on his latest studio album, Kaleidoscope, which has bangers from top to bottom. Tiësto has always enjoyed using vocals from many different vocalists so it was only right to provide atleast one song with vocals.

Don’t Ditch

Wasn’t too sure if this is old enough to be classified as a throwback, but this is what Tiesto’s music has evolved into over the past couple of years. He has come a long way from being the trance legend DJ Tiesto, but change isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

It is definitely not an easy task choosing only a couple of songs by this EDM legend, and in a couple of years there will probably be another Throwback Thursday article with songs like Chasing Summers on it. As stated before, Tiesto has had a long standing weekly podcast called Club Life, which you can always hear and download by going to Tiesto’s website or by clicking here.
