Keane – Sovereign Light Cafe (Afrojack Remix)

After joining forces with Alesso for their track “Silence By The Night”, the British band Keane has now roped in the Dutch master Afrojack to remix their track “Sovereign Light Café” from their album Strangeland.
Instead of using his typical dirty Dutch beats we have Afrojack providing excellent support to the vocals of Tom Chaplin in this track. The high-energy melodic drop is the pick of the track as this gives it a massive lift from the original. The progressive chords used by Afrojack have blended in perfectly around the vocals.
An interesting thing to note over here is that this remix is a perfect example of a DJ experimenting in a big manner. Usually in remixes the DJ would want to impose his own style and mix that up with the original track. Sometimes, it works and sometimes it fails big time. However, Afrojack has done the opposite over here. Leaving aside his own style of melodies, he has actually supported the existing tune by providing excellent progressive synths to add to the overall quality of the track.
Maybe it’s the progressive house lover speaking in me, but I think this remix does justice to the original track. The super vocals are a perfect platform for many DJ’s to take this up as part of their mashups as well.
