Asia’s premiere music festival, and Goa’s much anticipated annual three-day carnival, Sunburn is only days away. With the early bird tickets selling out, the artist line up declared, and flight fares reaching new highs, India and the world is now ready to experience the most melodic, extravagant and mesmerising event that thousands await all year. Organized by PDM in association with Nikhil Chinapa, who also heads Submerge, one of the best and biggest EDM promoting groups in India, Sunburn is now ranked as one of the top festivals on this side of the world, with a turnout thats achieved over 70,000 people in 2011.

Sunburn began in 2007 and took place on 28–29 December just at Candolim beach. In its first year Sunburn included performances from Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Axwell as headline acts. Other acts included John 00 Fleming, Pete Gooding, DJ Pearl, Jalebee Cartel, Super 8 & Tab, held on two stages with DJs playing simultaneously. The festival was hosted by Nikhil Chinapa and Rohit Barker, that have carried the torch ever since.

As I look back at the past instalments of Sunburn the apt music festival/carnival aura comes to mind, as does meeting new fans of dance music and raging together. During Sunburn, Candolim beach has, simply put, always had the buzz of just some great music being played by some of the best DJ’s in the world, truly Sunburn and the fans come together during the super spectacle that is Sunburn Goa and embrace the dance music culture as a unified force.

That said the festival goes beyond the spectacular dance music by building immense excitement through different mediums like an experimental music stage, fire jugglers, clearly defined and marked out merchandise stall’s and so much more. Festival goers can be assured of a super entertaining experience driven by emotions of excitement and happiness and a unique energy which the festival brings.

Sunburn Goa to a first timer never ceases to leave a defining mark of a great festival and makes you wish that the magic never ended, and the superb vibe stayed constant forever.

Over time and venturing into their 6th year running, the festival has seen the likes of Gareth Emery, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell, Sander Van Doorn, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and many more. Sunburn Festival has also expanded internationally by going to Colombo, and nationally to Mumbai & Noida.
