Nick Curly – Underground (Dennis Ferrer Remix)

Dennis Ferrer rewinds the clocks back to the 90s and drops his first soulful remix of the year with unsurprisingly electrifying results. The album ‘Underground’, is a deep and personal account that sees Curly shift his focus from club-ready tracks (with which he made his name), to more emotive grooves. The veteran house producer bolsters the low-key tune with a classic house backbeat and a meandering synth bass line, perfectly complementing its catchy vocals through builds and breakdowns. His climactic organ line has a refreshingly human feel to it, a throwback to the analog era that Ferrer came up during.

Dennis Ferrer isn’t known as a prolific remixer, but when he does turn his hand to something you can be sure that the result will be worth the wait. Furthermore, he has been running two acclaimed imprints in Cécile and 8bit, continuing his groundbreaking residency for Kehakuma at Space, Ibiza (which is long regarded as one of the pioneering nights for underground house music on the island). While this remix has been moving dance floors from Ibiza to New York this summer, you can finally hear the release on Bangin Beats.
