Apple Reportedly Arming Siri To Give It Shazam Like Capabilities

Apple users, soon you won’t have to depend on Shazam to find out about the details of your favorite unknown track being played. Having already partnered with Shazam, Patently Apple recently published that Apple had filed a patent and the details reveal that the IT giant just might switch their users from Shazam to their very own application.

“Earlier this month the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that revealed an invention that generally relates to audio analysis and, more specifically, to analyzing audio input for efficient speech and music recognition. While Apple first introduced integrating music identification technology created by Shazam into iOS during their WWDC 2014 event…, was the deal with Shazam only a stopgap measure until they deliver their own home grown solution? Apple’s latest patent application would strongly suggest just that.”

If these reports turn out to be true, it would be another testament to Apple’s attitude of pushing boundaries and explore new areas of innovation, notably their latest music streaming platform Apple Music which is turning out to be extremely successful. What we aren’t still certain of is how significant will this change be as to whether this feature will be incorporated to the standalone Siri function or just be some sort of an upgrade to their already existing application. Stay tuned for more updates and you can check out the full report here.
