Dutch producer and DJ MAKJ released his track “Generic” on 5th December this year via Spinnin’ Records. This track has really given everyone in the dance music field something to talk about. This hotly tipped DJ went way out of the box and landed in Beatport top 10 tracks list with a single that is created out of his own “piss” sound.

To celebrate his new record, this DJ interviewed with Thump in which he explained the reason for naming the song “Generic” by saying “Every DJ would say, ‘This sounds pretty generic’, so that’s what I named the track.” MAKJ was also very open about his opinion towards the current EDM wave. His comments were, “Everything is getting so saturated that all you can do is make fun of it. DJs like Avicii and Calvin Harris—they’re not DJs. They’re artists that people pay to see. Kids don’t know the difference”. When asked if this release was a parody, the young artist replied by saying, “I want to say yes, but I want to say no. It’s one of the best songs in my set. It’s the kind of song you show to your mom and dad after they listen to four other songs in the Beatport Top 10, and they would not know the difference. It’s not a parody… but it kind of is”

MAKJ has really gone out of his bounds to prove how easy it is to make good music!
