Seasoned progressive and electro house DJ and producer Benny Benassi is back. And this time he has a rather unusual name for a collaborator. The Italian has collaborated with System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian. And if this teaser is anything to go by, the upcoming single sounds massive!
Starting off with some brilliantly laid down vocals by Serj Tankian, who time and again impresses with his vocal range, and very minimal use of synths in the back, the whole arrangement gives a very epic vibe to the track, with Tankian’s chopped up vocals and vocal samples providing the perfect buildup. The breakdown unleashes an energy which is unmatched by any other single out there. Complete with a massive, thumping bassline and distorted synths, this single can go onto destroy mainstages and arenas around the world.

Benassi’s collaboration with Serj Tankian also points towards the rising trend of dance music and rock coming together. Deadmau5 has remixed Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails, Korn have collaborated with Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Excision and other dubstep producers for their album Path of Totality, Steve Aoki collaborated with Linkin Park, Dada Life had Sebastian Bach on vocal duties for Born to Rage, Avicii has already announced collaborations with Billie Joe Armstrong, Chris Martin, Jon Bon Jovi and Serj Tankian for his upcoming album, and now this collaboration. The continuation of this trend could potentially see rock vocalists giving dance music vocalists a serious run for their money.
The single, titled Shooting Helicopters, will be released on Ultra Music Records, and though there hasn’t been any announcement regarding the release date, you can check out the teaser of the single below.
