Soundcloud have hired Stephen Bryan, Warner Music Group’s former Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy and Business Development, as their Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategy . The move comes after Soundcloud is looking to finalise deals with the three major record labels in the world, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.
Bryan’s move from WMG to Soundcloud seems to be a highly beneficial one for the online distribution platform, as it seeks to establish a stronghold in the online music streaming service globally. Speaking in interview with Billboard, Stephen Bryan said

The move had nothing to with WMG. When I joined, it was the very beginning of the digital transition — the reason why I stayed there so long is that I’ve always felt a deep passion to navigate this incredible transition to digital platforms. I think that change will accelerate in the near future, and a company like SoundCloud enables me to continue that.

Since Soundcloud are hoping to tie deals with WMG too, Bryan would still be dealing with his former employees as Soundcloud will be offering stakes to the three record labels in exchange for licensing freedom.
