Remember when we told you how Richie Hawtin‘s performance at the Guggenheim Museum inspired him to come up with a new Plastikman album in 5 days? Well, that promise has just about reached its final stages of implementation, as Richie Hawtin has uploaded all 7 tracks into a mix, for our streaming pleasure! A result of the synergy of the art forms of Architecture and Techno Music, Hawtin described the music on the album as ‘music that shapes the visual sculptures we see around us everyday’.
The music came out of me effortlessly as I was very inspired by the opportunity to play in this beautiful architectural space renowned more for art than music. The location also allowed me to step far away from the dancefloor, giving me a huge amount of freedom to explore any sonic ideas that I had. Art, music, architecture, painting, sculpture – these mediums are supposed to live together.
Further, the release date of the album has been announced as July 15th, and Hawtin confirmed that his performance at Sonar Festival at Barcelona, would be a Plastikman exclusive where he’d be trying and testing his new productions under his alluring alias.
