Gig Review: Gareth Emery & Jerome Isma-Ae at Royalty, Mumbai

Dance music has found its place in Mumbai. It has permanently embedded itself into the hearts of this metropolis of dance music enthusiasts and anybody who had doubted this before July 18th 2013, I would have to sit them down and talk them through it. However, looking back, that Thursday night, which encompassed two of the biggest DJ’s of the world along with two bright talents from the city, stated out big and bold that dance music with all its facets is here to stay.

Submerge – one of India’s largest promotions & events company for dance music, brought together the mastermind from Munich - Jerome Isma-Ae and the legend from Manchester - Gareth Emery to Royalty, Mumbai to mark a night of dance music diversity delivered to absolute perfection. Where on one hand local talents Beatstatic (comprised of Suraj Nambiar a.k.a Jarus & Rachit Jobalia a.k.a Kroschild) and Willy warmed up the crowd to some lukewarm electro house and deep house tunes, Jerome Isma-Ae blasted the club with his careful selection of dance-floor smashers ranging from genres of progressive house and trance.

All that was left was for the birthday boy Gareth Emery to rock the crowd with some anthems ranging from house music to even some classical trance – a genre which put Gareth Emery on the dance music map. All in all, the night was a spectacular one, nothing short of one-of-those-festival-experiences with divergent sounds echoing long after the night had come to a close.

Hit past the break to read ahead on what went down when Jerome Isma-ae & Gareth Emery together gave Royalty, Mumbai a night to remember!

Ashley Walbridge – Crush (Original Mix)

Ashley Wallbridge - Crush (Original Mix)

Known for his adept trance productions, we can safely say Ashley Walbridge is definitely making his mark in the trance world. With huge hits, recent being Yin Yang and DUI with Garuda master Gareth Emery, Ashley’s latest release is a new track titled Crush released on LE7ELS and it is BIG!

Adopting to the darker side of trance, Ashley has done extremely well to experiment out of his comfort zone of making music, dabbling in a little progressive house. The intro is rather edgy, raw and gives us a commendable impression that something big is about to happen. Sure enough, Ashley refuses to disappoint, and his build up is crystal clear and neat, to say the least. As the drop approaches, Ashley sticks to what he does best, uplifting our spirits and we were thrilled to see this young producer sparing no effort with this masterpiece.

You can buy it off Beatport here.

Global Gathering ’13 line up revealed

006db_1663097

Global Gathering is back this here, and with a BANG we’d say! After winning last year’s Best Dance Event at the 2012 UK Festival Awards, they’re back this year with a MASSIVE line-up, to say the least. This year, however, may have a few clashes. Albeit impossible, we’d want to watch everyone perform. Continue reading

Ben Gold – Amplified (Original Mix)

Ben-Gold-presents-Amplified-on-Garuda

Ben Gold is one of the most prolific artists of his generation and at the tender age of 26 his sound transcends continents, performing across the globe from Miami to LA, from Australia to Ibiza; with main room appearances at sell out events such as Bal en Blanc in Montreal, the prestigious ASOT celebration parties & Global Gathering.

Already played on ASOT 612 by Armin van Buuren, ‘Amplified’ has just been released on Gareth Emery’s Garuda Music label. The tune might remind you of Omnia’s, ‘Infina’ when it comes to the synthwork. The progression plus the bass line is perfect for trance track to be. The beginning itself gives a feeling of something wonderful coming and once the drop and the synth come in, you are already flying. Many people have related his style to his record label owner’s i.e. Gareth Emery which seems quite evident with this.

‘Amplified’ is a perfect dose to amplify your energy this summer.

Get it here on Beatport.

Ashley Wallbridge – Yin Yang (Original Mix)

Yin-Yang2

“Without light, there is no dark. And without lows, there are no highs.”

UK’s rising Trance stars, Ashley Wallbridge, has taken this very ancient Chinese philosophy and implemented on his latest production. Out on Gareth Emery’s Garuda Music.

The track starts off with Wallbridge’s comfort genre, Trance, characterised by complex piano breakdowns, till it drops to a more aggressive Big Room sound with heavy complextro drops and intricately intense wobbly riffs. Diverting a great deal from  his comfort zone.

In a recent interview, Wallbridge mentioned “I don’t ever want to feel like I’m stuck to one genre. I create music that I love, and I think ‘Yin-Yang’ is a good demonstration of that.”

And truly enough too, with the serene melodic piano build up embodiment of “Yin” or “light” and the aggressive electro beats and wobble sounds that signify “Yang” or “dark”. both intertwining to deliver Wallbridge’s signature big room house sound.

Quickly becoming a favourite amongst his peers and making its way into the festival circuit, ‘Yin-Yang’ has already garnered support from major players like Gareth Emery, W&W and Tritonal.

Corsten’s Countdown – 292

da

In the last podcast, the top 3 tracks on Corsten’s Countdown were :

Mikkas & Amba Shepherd – Finally [Strictly Rhythm] [#3]
Jacob van Hage & Oliver Heldens – Thumper [Spinnin' Records] [#2]
Ferry Corsten – Kudawudashuda [Flashover Recordings] [#1]

This week we find Ferry Corsten’s ‘Kudawudashuda’ still on the top 3 but now on No.2 . This track is pure gold, and has been named by the online community as Ferry Corsten’s “return to trance” track and it definitely brings an energy back that I have not seen in Corsten’s work in a while. However, this week Armin van Buuren & Markus Schulz takes on the lead at #no.1 with’The Expedition (ASOT600 Anthem). Its also important to note that we’re about two weeks out from the launch of Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance 600 world tour, so it’s only appropriate that the official theme song — which premiered a few weeks ago on ASOT — got a Beatport release earlier today.
