Gig Review: Gareth Emery at Blue Frog, Delhi

When Gareth Emery’s India tour for 2013 was announced by Submerge, all we had to say was “Let the Concrete Angel fall”. Excited and ready to lose control, all the Emery fans came out on different social media expressing their exhilaration to listen to one of the very best in dance music, live.

Where Mumbai & Bangalore got a special treat having the astoundingly talented Jerome Isma-Ae playing alongside the world #14, Delhi got a great line-up as well with homegrown talents, Progressive Brothers and Mash playing alongside the one and only Gareth Emery.

DJ, producer, record label owner, Gareth Emery has proved himself to be a multi-faceted personality. Born and raised in Britain, Emery started off his journey for music with classical piano training. He then moved on to Jazz, Punk-Rock and then finally towards his destiny, Electronic music. In early 2002, Gareth started getting noticed after his track “Mistra” was released under his alias GTR and was supported by some of the best in the business like, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren. Since then, he has gone on to release some huge hits including some mind-blowing remixes and a stunning collaboration with legendary Above & Beyond. Known for his uplifting trance and unique production style, he has been DJ Mag’s highest ranked British DJ, having peaked at #7 in 2010 and #14 in 2012.

Gig Review: Gareth Emery & Jerome Isma-Ae at Royalty, Mumbai

Dance music has found its place in Mumbai. It has permanently embedded itself into the hearts of this metropolis of dance music enthusiasts and anybody who had doubted this before July 18th 2013, I would have to sit them down and talk them through it. However, looking back, that Thursday night, which encompassed two of the biggest DJ’s of the world along with two bright talents from the city, stated out big and bold that dance music with all its facets is here to stay.

Submerge – one of India’s largest promotions & events company for dance music, brought together the mastermind from Munich - Jerome Isma-Ae and the legend from Manchester - Gareth Emery to Royalty, Mumbai to mark a night of dance music diversity delivered to absolute perfection. Where on one hand local talents Beatstatic (comprised of Suraj Nambiar a.k.a Jarus & Rachit Jobalia a.k.a Kroschild) and Willy warmed up the crowd to some lukewarm electro house and deep house tunes, Jerome Isma-Ae blasted the club with his careful selection of dance-floor smashers ranging from genres of progressive house and trance.

All that was left was for the birthday boy Gareth Emery to rock the crowd with some anthems ranging from house music to even some classical trance – a genre which put Gareth Emery on the dance music map. All in all, the night was a spectacular one, nothing short of one-of-those-festival-experiences with divergent sounds echoing long after the night had come to a close.

Hit past the break to read ahead on what went down when Jerome Isma-ae & Gareth Emery together gave Royalty, Mumbai a night to remember!

While DJs and producers are making moves for promotions and asking fans to vote for them in the ongoing DJ Mag poll for 2013; Gareth Emery urges his fans not to vote for him in the poll and gives his thoughts over the whole voting fiasco. Rather than spending money on promotions for votes, Emery is planning to donate that amount of money to charity. This all happened when he received a call from a publicity company which offered him promotions for the poll by spending a sum of money. The humble producer instead took to facebook and gave us his views. Hit past the break to read his full statement! Continue reading

Tritonal & 7 Skies – Reset (Original Mix) [Preview]

For those who wish life came with a reset button, producer duo Tritonal and producer 7 Skies join forces to drop a mesmerizing track specifically made to revive all those favorite memories.

Longtime friends since their early production days, both Tritonal and 7 Skies infuse their melodious and experimental signature sounds into a hard-hitting banger that’s been supported by everyone from Nicky Romero, Gareth Emery, Cazzette, Hardwell, W&W, and Ferry Corsten.
