Paul van Dyk Feat. Arnej – We Are One 2013 (We Are One Festival Anthem)

Paul-van-Dyk-Arnej-–-We-Are-One-2013

Paul van Dyk makes it clear he is back to dominate the EDM world once again with the release of his new single “We Are One 2013” featuring tech-house/trance rebel Arnej, out now on Vandit as a four-track package. The track is the official anthem for the second We Are One Festival presented by PvD taking place in his Berlin hometown July 6 at the colossal Zitadelle Spandau.

After its original 2010 arena‐busting incarnation—in the German capital’s O2 World Arena to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall—this year the We Are One Festival moves outdoors. As We Are One reaches festival status, PvD joins Arnej to crown the night with an anthem of fittingly goliath proportions.

You can buy the track on Beatport, here.

Arnej – Midnight Raid (Original Mix) [Free Download]

Arnej Mumbai

If you look at Bosnian born Canadian trance DJ Arnej’s  facebook page. You’d find that Arnej is hardcore genre loyalist. He doesn’t believe in selling out for the commercial hype. That’s one of the things i love about him.  You can see a perfect blend of that loyalty to music along with experimentation on Arnej’s newest track, Midnight Raid.

First played at ASOT 600 in Mumbai, the driving hard bassline and dark, grimy sub bass blew everyone away right at the drop.  The added percussions make it sound even more tribal-ish, adding the extra oomph to it’s raw sound. This then breaks down to really evil multi-layered synth breakdown.  And it all picks up again to drive you deeper into dance music darkness. It all drops back to the same piledriving outro that the track began with.

Raw and energy filled this production is more akin to Markus Schulz’s earlier sound, and the kind of stuff ColdHarbour is primarily famous for.  It’s definitely bound to set your pulse racing every time you push play. What makes this more enticing is the fact that Arnej is kind enough put it up for a free download. Grab it while it’s fresh.

Interview: Arnej Sits Down With Us To Talk About The Future Of Trance & ASOT 600

The Bangin Beats recently sat down with Arnej, during ASOT 600, after Arnej plays a stunning set that got the crowd prepared for The Expedition; We gather his views on certain topics relating to Trance & ASOT 600 collectively.

TBB: This is The Bangin Beats and we have Arnej with us. Welcome to India. How’s it going?

Arnej: It’s good to be back. You know, this is my third time back and, you know what they say, third time’s a charm.

TBB: How do you feel to be here?

Arnej: You know, it’s an amazing feeling. I was a little bit nervous going first cause, you know, it’s like “oh my god like what do you expect, maybe there won’t be any people there, maybe they won’t feel the music”, but you know the instant I hit play on the first track, the whole place just went off and WOW!

TBB: That was absolutely a brilliant set. What do you think about the EDM scene in India? Do you think it’s, over the time you’ve been here and now, changed?

Arnej: You know what? Its growing man, it’s growing. I mean there’s a reason I keep coming back, and every time I come back it’s bigger and better. And I’m going to be coming back for the fourth time, and I’m already scared what to expect, because if it’s been this good so far, like where do you go from here. It’s going to be crazy.

TBB: So talking about ASOT, 600 being a huge world tour that Armin has planned up, how does it feel to be featured on a big scale?

Arnej: How do I answer this question without being arrogant, this is like a global phenomenon. He’s doing this in 12 different countries. This started out as a simple radio show in a studio and it’s become this global insane thing. To be a part of that is magical and I’m very thankful and very appreciateful.

TBB: What’s next for Arnej? What do we expect now?

Arnej: I’m going to Miami after this. On Sunday I have a show there with my extended family at Cold Harbour and I’m really looking forward to releasing some of the tracks I played tonight. Some of them might be a big surprise for some people and I’m excited to share my new music with you guys.

TBB: So what is your take on the way commercial music is taking over. Trance has been here for years and all of a sudden we see Big-Room artists like Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta taking over. Finally we have Armin van Buuren back on number 1 again and everyone in the trance community is really excited. What is your take on the future of EDM?

Arnej: You know what, you’re right. Trance used to be the kind of go-to dance music genre. Even though it’s taken the back seat, you know with progressive house, dubstep and what not, it’s still bigger than it’s ever been before. The fact that we’re here and doing A State of Trance in Mumbai is kind of a testament to that, and the future is bright for Trance man.

TBB: Thank you so much, that’s Arnej with us and we are thebanginbeats.com

ASOT 600 Pre Party @ Jack N Jones, With Arnej

Image

As fans from all over India were gearing up for A State Of Trance’s 600th edition in Mumbai. The Bangin Beats got a chance to get a preview of what was to come at the Submerge ASOT600Mum Pre Party with Armin Van Buuren’s protégé and highly renowned trance producer, Arnej at the Jack N’ Jones clothing store at Mumbai,

We arrived at the store at around 9 pm, just to beat the rush, as it was a “By Invitation Only” party.

Reaching the second floor of the store, we found that the entire floor was transformed to a mini-club with an amazing lighting and sound set up. Totally set the mood for what one could expect for the night ahead.

Vandana was already on the decks and played a very groovy warm up set.

Image

Nikhil Chinapa on the decks!

Close to 9.30 pm, Nikhil Chinapa took to the decks to open for Arnej and delivered a set which was perfect as a build up for the man everyone couldn’t wait to watch.  With a plethora of progressive house & house music, Nikhil got the audience pumped up before they could be blown awat by Arnej’s arsenal of tracks.

At about 10.30pm, Arnej took over the reigns from Nikhil Chinapa and what followed was absolutely phenomenal.

Hitting us with his unique brand of trance, he really got the audience to shed all inhibitions and led them to have the time of their lives on the dancefloor. It was almost as if we were on a space ship and he was it’s commander. Adding to craze was Nikhil Chinapa, enjoying himself to the hilt as he fired a smoke gun at the crowd.

Image

Masterfully blending progressive trance with some of the catchiest electro tunes, Arnej really made the night a perfect precursor to what was to be in store at the “A State Of Trance 600th Episode celebration”. He gave fans a mild little sample to what promised to be a much more exciting and intense event.

Image

Arnej dropped club smashers like “Clarity (W&W Bootleg)”, his very own mash-up of Tiesto’s “Traffic” and W&W’s “Lift-Off”, his re-work of W&W’s “Operation AK-47″ and ‘Not Giving Up On Love”  by Armin Van Buuren . He ended the powerful foot stomping journey with Eric Prydz rework of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”.

To sum it up in a nutshell, it was a stellar night with beautiful music and beautiful people. Submerge and Jack n Jones really couldn’t have come up with a better precursor for one dance music’s biggest events which India was more than ready to experience!

Arnej even had this to say about the night;

So they managed to ram 400 ppl into a men’s department of a clothing store for the ASOT600 pre-party, gotta love them crazy Indian fans!

Arnej also played at A State Of Trance’s 600th Episode Celebration in Mumbai, along with Armada Music loyalists,  Rank 1, Aly & Fila, Shogun and the Man himself, Armin Van Buuren and it was definitely an amazing experience!

The Current State of Dance Music

A few months ago, Sebastian Ingrosso tweeted this;

Image

And it got me thinking; He’s almost entirely correct (despite being such an ironic statement from someone who’s known for his recent affair with hard drops and immensely commercial productions). Why has music these days become so aggressive? Is it due to the increased commercialization of electronic music?
