India will soon bear witness to a brand new collective & their vision to unite people through the plethora of their diverse musical backgrounds. Swedish dynamic duo Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso bring all their rich experience and limitless creativity together to form their new collective Axwell/\Ingrosso! Axwell & Ingrosso march on with their new concept – the DEP/\RT\/RES World Tour! Needless to say, India awaits with bated breath as these two giants make their way to our shores, making us one of the first & few to be part of this historic venture! But before we take our final departure with this duo, let’s take a moment to span the journey of these two prolific artists!
Axel Christofer Hedfors aka Axwell‘s journey began in 1995 but it was in 2002 when he collaborated with close friend Isabel Fructuoso to form Mambana, was when he became a globally recognized phenomenon. The duo released three tracks together but it was in 2003 when his solo track ‘Wait a minute‘ put him on the Dance music map catching the attention of giants like Pete Tong, Junior Jack, Kid Creme and others. In 2004, Axwell released his global hit ‘Feel the Vibe‘ became the launchpad of his success. The track got re-released by world renowned Ministry of Sound in ’05 with Tara McDonald providing the vocals for the re-release. Axwell continued to produce tracks as a solo artist and also as a collaborator for tracks on Soulfuric, Stoney Boy, suSu, Device among others. Sebastian Ingrosso meanwhile began his DJing career in 1999, as he was part of numerous compilation albums, including frequently collaborating with fellow swede Steve Angello on Subliminal Sessions. Ingrosso contined to release various tracks & EPs under his aliases Outfunk, Mode Hookers & General Moders.
Axwell continued with production as he remixed some of the biggest names in Pop music. Remixes and edits on tracks by Usher, Room 5, Clipse & Faith Evans, Stonebridge, N*E*R*D, Hard-Fi, Deep Dish, Pharell, Nelly Furtado & Madonna to name a few. In 2005, the paths of both the artists crossed as they collaborated on a track ‘Together‘! Axwell then went on to release ‘Watch the Sunrise‘, that became his most successful release of the year before setting up his own record label, Axtone. Meanwhile, Ingrosso released his track ‘Yeah‘ & ‘82-83‘ with Steve Angello.
In the year 2006, Axwell collaborated with Steve Angello for the first time as they formed the duo Supermode. Together they remixed Bronski Beat and put out a new track ‘Tell me why‘. They went onto team up with now Swedish giant Eric Prydz and produce the tracks ‘123‘ & ‘321‘ under their joint moniker Axer. At the same time, Ingrosso also collaborated with Angello on ‘Click‘ before releasing his own single ‘I Can’t Get Enough‘ under his Fireflies moniker.
In the August of 2007, Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played the Main Room at Cream Amnesia under the alias ‘The Swedish House Mafia‘ for the first time, as part of Radio 1’s Essential Mix Ibiza! This was the first ever time, the three performed together as a collective and the name Swedish House Mafia was associated with their act.
In 2008, Axwell then went on to pick up a David Guetta rejected remix and teamed up with Bob Sinclar to poroduce the monster hit ‘What a Wonderful World‘. He then went on to collaborate with Dirty South on ‘Open Your Heart‘. Meanwhile, Ingrosso jumpstarted to his fame & fortune with ‘Show me Love‘ with Angello & Robin S. He then went on to produce the holy-trinity of dirty house ‘IT‘, ‘Partouze‘ & ‘555‘ with Angello again.
Finally, in the year 2009, Axwell, Ingrosso & Angello came together to work on their famous collaboration ‘Leave the world behind‘. Soon, the trio united to become one of Dance Music’s most recognizable acts – Swedish House Mafia . Together, they dominated the industry and single-handedly changed the face of Electronic music over the next two years. Releases such as ‘One’, ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’, ‘Save the world’, ‘Antidote’, ‘Greyhound’ & the immensely popular ‘Don’t you worry child‘, made SHM one of the most recognized Dance music acts at the World music stage. However, in 2013 came the announcement of the end of their brief albeit hugely successful collaboration with the exhaustive One Last Tour. The same show came to India for two shows in December 2012 & famously for a De-tour show back in January 2013!
After splitting up from SHM, Axwell went to release two tracks, both which subsequently hit number 1 on the Beatport charts. His track ‘Center of the universe‘ & the Sick Individuals collaboration with Taylr Renee ‘I Am‘, both peaked the rankings, re-establishing his place as the Dance Music elite. Meanwhile, Ingrosso carried his fine form as he released the vocal edit of his famous ‘Reload‘ with John Martin & ‘Roar‘ once again with Axwell.
In May this year, the two artists decided they couldn’t resist working with each other, and decided to give their collaborative act a shot, and so we witnessed the birth of Axwell/\Ingrosso! The DEP/\RT\/RES concept was unveiled and members at the Governor’s ball were the first to witness the magic unfold. However, India isn’t too far behind, as we fall next on the list, to be hit by this gigantic musical storm featuring these two Swedish superstars. So mark all the important gig dates & book your tickets if you haven’t already….the Swedes are returning!
