Eric Prydz wins Essential mix of the year!

Eric Prydz

We are blessed to be part of a musical age where so many radio shows adorn our weekly calendar timetable. But none have been more historic and arguably more definitive as Pete Tong’s Essential Mix. Featuring every week, a special guest DJ is invited to air a specially curated 2 hour set, an opportunity that has propelled the careers of one too many DJ’s and producers. Every year Pete Tong, alongwith a selective panel of Dance music experts, select the Top Essential Mix of the Year. And this year the award has gone to non other than the Original Swede mastermind Eric Prydz.

Originally aired on February 2nd, the mix features a host of track from Prydz himself under all his legendary aliases. Tracks from Prydz, Cirez D or Pryda, each track found its place in a composite complex mix of varying sounds and oscillating tempos of energy. Stacked full of unreleased material, unidentified tracks, and the likes of ‘Power Drive’, ‘Drums In The Deep’ and ‘Rotonda’, most of the tracks would define Eric’s incredible portfolio of 2013.  Prydz beat out the likes of Skrillex, Diplo, Atoms For Peace, Maya Jane Coles, Disclosure, Dixon, Sasha, Claude VonStroke, Guy Gerber and many others to claim the top spot. Besides this accolade, Eric Prydz this year earned his second Grammy Nomination for his M83 ‘Midnight City’ remix, closed the Coachella Festival, headlined Ultra, EDC and HARD festivals, launched his Black Dice residency in L. Don’t forget to check out this legendary epic mix by none other than Eric Prydz!
