Skrillex sweeping 3 grammys while Kaskade talks about dance music at the 55th Annual Grammy Ceremony

He won the award for best dance recording for “Bangarang” featuring Sirah (beating out “Avicii – Levels” & “Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child” ) and best remixed recording for ‘Nero – Promises‘ surpassing “In My Mind (Axwell Remix)”. Of note was the dead silence in the room when Walser’s name was read during the ceremony. “It’s crazy to be here again,” Skrillex said. “I was on tour and I had this beat and the energy was really raw. The whole premise of it was just like ‘Peter Pan,’ never growing up.” Sirah then took the mic: “Guys, this is a Grammy,” she said, as she mentioned she used to live in a downtown loft with holes in her ceiling. Skrillex then immediately won the dance/electronica album prize for “Bangarang.” He brought up everyone on stage who worked with him, but as Skrillex swept the dance awards, one would be right to risk if Grammy voters know more about electronic music than Skrillex? The former best new artist nominee has a  lot of rock ‘n’ roll fans, and he bested a host of other name-EDM artists, including Deadmau5, the Chemical Brothers  and Kaskade.

Skrillex right after the ceremony responded in an interview when asked “Are you getting used to winning Grammys”?

You know what? I thought Id get used to it, but I swear, I tripped over every word up there in my second speech. It was like jumping into a pool of ice water and I couldnt even breathe or think. It was crazy; I think it was crazier than last year. I didnt expect to be here again.

Kaskade grammy

The awards for “Best Score Soundtrack” were presented by electronic star Kaskade, who gave a shout-out to all his EDM friends. “It really wasn’t that long ago that nobody knew who we were and now we are here,” he said.

Kaskade further spoke on dance music backstage that “The Grammys have embraced us and are figuring out ways to include us, this year better than ever. The categories had some great artists in it and it was representational of what’s happening in my world.” “We’re selling more tickets than any other artists out there,” adding the ceremony should be “including us in the prime time.” ‘It’s time for us to move from the Nokia Theatre to the big room’. As for the presence of Al Walser among the nominees, a nod that confused many in the electronic world, Kaskade — a Grammy voter himself — said, “It just felt very forced. No one was aware of who he was.”

Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia and Steve Aoki also made appearances at the Grammy.
