In a devastating turn of events, news has just come in that one of electronic music’s most pioneering names and The Prodigy‘s very own frontman Keith Flint has passed away. He was 49. Initially announced by the band themselves via their social media channels, they confirmed that he had died by suicide.

“The news is true , I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend, I’m shell shocked , fuckin angry , confused and heart broken ….. r.i.p brother Liam”

Renowned as the vocalist of the iconic UK trio that has gone on to become one of electronic music’s most legendary groups, some of Keith and The Prodigy’s many hits include ‘Smack My Bitch Up‘, ‘Breathe‘, and ‘Firestarter‘ amongst several others. A police spokesperson said in a statement regarding Keith’s death:

“We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday. We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Our prayers and thoughts are with Keith Flint and his family and friends.
