After announcing their debut collaborative EP, ‘SSSO INDIA x AZR EP1‘ earlier this week in celebration of International Women’s Day, Shesaid.so India and Azadi Records have finally released the highly anticipated body of work. Boasting of creations by four incredibly talented music artists from India, namely, Consolidate affiliate Pardafash, Mumbai-based singer/producer NoniMouse, Azadi Records’ very own Tienas, and Shillong-based act Meba Ofilia, each of their wonderful contributions have been inspired by women that are close to their hearts and have impacted them deeply.
Led by NoniMouse’s ‘BFF‘, which tries to capture her best friend’s “do your own thing” spirit, the vibrant, yet fast-paced dance floor thumper marks her second release in two weeks following the recent unveil of her ‘•noni-pop‘ EP. Next comes Tienas’ ‘Queen’s Necklace‘ on which he not only brings his signature intrinsic sonic textures to the fore, but also leads the way with yet another impressive vocal delivery where he talks about the bond between a mother and son and how it evolves over time as both of them grow.
While it certainly feels like an extremely hard task to pick our favourite, Meba Ofilia’s ‘Lady Bizz‘ somehow edges past to make itself stand out as one of the most impressive offerings from the EP. Highlighted by Meba’s no non-sense attitude which shines through her lyrics, her latest creation touches upon self-love and women’s issues. Lastly, we get treated to the unconventional wizardry of Pardafash who wraps up the proceedings with ‘Dark Chocolate‘; a love song that tells a story about the nuances of friendship between two people. Shining light on her narrative electronic music, the record steadily moves forward to conjure up a tale which also lends from the progression of their relationship and intimacy.
An extremely well thought out body of work that has been brought to life by Shesaid.so India and Azadi Records, their first EP makes up for something truly memorable courtesy the four acts as they provide their musical input to bring about the release of this Women’s Day Special.
