Jwala 010 – Space

Jwala Space

Back in June 2017, the electronic music scene in the country was graced with the birth of an exciting new collective! Yes, we’re indeed talking about Jwala, the nine-member outfit consisting of some of India’s brightest talents who have taken it upon themselves to not only showcase their own work, but to also put the spotlight on some of the freshest music coming out of the Indian sub-continent.

Following the release of their impressive debut compilation, ‘Where There’s Smoke‘, the rising collective has come a long way, having put out tracks by multiple acts from across the country. With nine successful compilations under their belt, the talented crew has now finally returned to action with their landmark tenth release. Titled ‘Space‘, the 6-track project puts up a quality display of some truly genuine and impressive work from the likes of Antriksh Bali, Tacocat, Park Circus, 2 A.M Talk, Dravy and Io.

Led by Kolkata-based outfit Park Circus’ ‘Millennial Whoop‘ which sees them collaborate with Plastic Parvati (Suyasha Sengupta) for a funky and bubbling take on hip-hop, Antriksh Bali makes an exceptional return to the collective, following his previous appearance on ‘Dawn‘ with his formidable new creation, ‘Dungeons‘. With ‘Sverte‘, listeners are treated to an otherworldly piece of work by Mumbai-based producer Sugam Khetan under his alias, 2 A.M Talk.

Next up is ‘Lear Érasneila‘ by Tacocat, which turns out to be a visceral journey offering us with a glimpse of Jishnu Chakraborty’s creative powers. ‘Affirmation‘ sees Dravy serve up his throbbing, yet conceptual creation before Io brings the proceedings to a close with his bumping future bass-inspired effort, ‘Bloom‘.

A near perfect compilation which highlights Jwala’s aim towards building a community for passionate, like-minded creators and listeners to thrive in, you can listen to ‘Space‘ below.
