Spotify CEO Confirms Plans To Launch In India

With all the speculation about Spotify‘s impending launch in India, Daniel Ek, CEO of the music streaming service has given the rumors a shot in the arm by confirming that they are working on the service’s launch in India.

Speaking at Spotify’s Investor Day 2018 in New York, Daniel said:

We are working on launching in some of the biggest markets in the world, places like India, Russia, and Africa which has a very rich musical culture.

While the launch date hasn’t been revealed yet, it can be assumed that Spotify will potentially be arriving to Indian shores in 2018 itself, and provide much needed competition to the likes of Apple Music, Google Play Music, Amazon Prime Music and Indian counterparts such as Gaana and Saavn.
