Indian music streaming platform Saavn’s original music program, Artist Originals has steadily become a crucial platform for talented artists from all over the world. Having treated us to some memorable works from the likes of Prateek Kuhad, Naezy and more, the latest act to make their debut are New Delhi-based fusion duo Shadow and Light who have finally released their brand new album, ‘Sabar‘. Comprised of Anindo Bose and Pavithra Chari, they have serenaded listeners with their poignant song-writing and contemporary-classical compositions in recent years. Boasting of a solid discography which also consists of two brilliant LPs, ‘Sabar‘ marks the next chapter in their exciting journey.
An expansive 8-track effort which is led by the striking opening track ‘Dhadkan‘, Shadow and Light seem to move from strength to strength throughout the proceedings with standout efforts in the form of ‘Pathjhad‘, ‘Vaade‘ and ‘Sabar‘. With Pavithra’s stunning vocal performance which can be heard loud and clear, the album keeps listeners interested till the very end with its diverse production work. Drawing influences from multiple genres including Hindustani classical, jazz, pop, electronica and beyond, they also shared their thoughts about ‘Sabar‘ in a statement:
“This is our third studio album. We’ve made a personal effort to move beyond our comfort zones, and push our boundaries even further. It represents where we are now, and all the patience and effort it took for us to get here. Musically there is a strong RnB influence in all the tracks and lyrically the themes we’ve chosen to express are varied and unique to each composition.”
