HomeMusicElectronicSandunes – NOLA Daydream [EP] Rajrishi Murthi February 8, 2018 Electronic, EP, New Release Late last year, Sandunes returned to action with the announcement of her latest EP ‘Nola Daydream‘. An audio-visual project brought to life as part of a collaboration with Studio Moebius, we were treated to Part II (‘Does Bombay Dream of NOLA‘) of the four-track offering in November. And now with the release of her highly ambitious body of work via Saavn’s Artist Originals program, the Mumbai-based artist takes us on an adventurous ride. A stellar showcase of her synth-heavy work which is highlighted by its jazz-influenced sounds, ‘Nola Daydream‘ weaves a memorable tale, while drawing parallels from two unique, yet defining cultures that have shaped up Sandunes’ illustrious career over the years. Led by the opening track ‘The Trust‘ with New Orleans-based cellist/composer Helen Gillet, a serene start draws listeners in before transforming into an intense piece which offers the beginning of the storytelling courtesy its visual accompaniment. As the mystery surrounding the proceedings continue to intensify, the previously released ‘Does Bombay Dream of NOLA‘ arrives next to transport us to the mystifying geographies of Sandunes’ music. With the psychedelic ‘Nutterfly‘, Sanaya’s stunning EP comes to life as its vibrant soundscape takes over. A stellar visual work which sees the story arrive at a crucial juncture, the vivid creation easily stands out as one of Sandunes’ most impressive records till date. As the breathtaking journey reaches the final quarter, ‘Nola Daydream‘ comes to an exciting close courtesy ‘Gold Streets‘. At the heart of it all, her latest conceptual body of work is deep rooted within her love for New Orleans jazz which effortlessly brings together rich sounds and her eclectic imaginary universe for a fine offering.
