Following an unfortunate turn of events, it is extremely saddening to announce that Mumbai-based keyboardist Karan Joseph is no more. Renowned as one of the most talented names in the indie music circuit, the 29-year old act from Bengaluru, better known as Madfingers committed suicide on Saturday morning, September 9 which led to his death. Allegedly jumping off from a 12th floor flat in Bandra Bandstand’s Concorde Apartments, the motive behind the former Berklee College of Music graduate’s suicide is yet to be ascertained by the police.
While it is being speculated that Karan may have been battling depression, officials are also looking into other possibilities, including a drug overdose. A world-class musician, who has dabbled into genres including jazz, funk, rock and blues over the years, the Indian music industry has truly lost a gem.
As we stay tuned for further updates regarding this case, our thoughts go out to Karan’s family and friends.
