Owners of two popular beach shacks, Curlies and Club Nyex in Goa’s Anjuna village were arrested on Tuesday, according to NDTV. A police raid that was carried out at both these places resulted in the arrest of Edwin Nunes, owner of Curlies shack, and Rohan Shetty of Club Nyex after their staff and patrons were found to be in possession of drugs. As per reports, the waiters at Curlies and three other tourists from Bangalore were amongst the ones to be booked.

“They have been arrested under Section 25 of the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Chandan Choudhury said. As the state of Goa continues to crack down on rave parties and late night events which seem to be inviting the usage of drugs, the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar also said in a statement: “Late night rave parties are illegal and it is where drugs are consumed and distributed. Rave parties on beaches or remote areas should be totally stopped”.
