2016 was a massive year for dance music. As the genre broke out into pop culture, courtesy majorly of The Chainsmokers, 2017 will see dance music reach newer heights. And, to recognize the effort put in by some of most talented names in the industry, Billboard has come out with its list of 2017’s Dance Power Players.
The list features DJs, managers, and tastemakers who will continue shaping dance music as a whole in the coming future. Artists like The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris, Diplo, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Flume, Skrillex, Zedd, and many more make the cut in the artist section, while the management list includes Adam Alpert at the top, as The Chainsmokers‘ manager has “successfully steered the duo to a rarefied level of pop success“, Moe Shalizi (marshmello’s manager), Scooter Braun (Martin Garrix, David Guetta), Amy Thomson (Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Alesso) among many others. The Tastemakers category features Pete Tong & Annie Mac, Kathryn Frazier – CEO/owner, Biz 3 and co-owner, OWSLA, whose clientèle also includes Daft Punk, Skrillex, RL Grime, and Baauer, Zane Lowe, Patrick Moxey and many more.
