In a statement from his representative Brian Bumbery, Cornell passed away in Detroit on Wednesday night, hours after playing with Soundgarden at Detroit’s Fox Theatre. Calling the death “sudden and unexpected”, the statement said the family would be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy. Cornell had been working with Soundgarden on the band’s new studio album since last year, and it remains to be seen how Chris Cornell’s death will affect the rest of the material.
