Mumbai based singer-songwriter Jishnu Guha has released the second EP under his Short Round alias, after his five track debut EP, ‘Desperate Times‘ was released in March last year. The seven track sophomore EP, titled ‘With Friends Like These‘, sees Jishnu collaborate with a number of fellow musicians in the indie music space, including the likes of Siddharth Basrur (Last Remaining Light), Mali, Saurabh Roy (The Lightyears Explode), Anna Holmquist and many more.
A collaborative EP, ‘With Friends Like These’ is an extremely well crafted, heartfelt effort from Guha, who sets the bar high with every single track on the record. Continuing with the folk-rock sound that he has perfected over the years, Jishnu conjures up a beautiful landscape of sunbathed melodies, be it the mellow ‘Autumn‘ featuring Rahul Pais and Mali (which I believe is the highlight of the EP), or ‘Losing Day‘ featuring Siddharth Basrur, and delivers what possibly could be one of the finest records I’ve heard this year so far.
