HomeNewsLorde Shares New Song ‘Liability’ Off Upcoming Sophomore Album Rajrishi Murthi March 10, 2017 News, Uncategorized Famed singer/songwriter Lorde made her highly awaited comeback earlier this month with the release of her brand new track ‘Green Light‘ off her upcoming sophomore album, ‘Melodrama‘. And now the New Zealand native has shared the second single, ‘Liability‘. A highly contrasting departure from her previous single, her latest piece of work ditches dance-pop influenced sounds for an emotional piano ballad. Co-produced by Jack Antonoff, the track kicks off with a brief section of near silence before big piano chords flood listeners’ ears. As Lorde’s stripped back, raw vocals take over, she gets emotional as she talks about being a liability and bares her soul in melancholic fashion. Talking about the inspiration behind her latest single, Lorde talked to Zane Lowe during a recent interview saying: “I was in this cab alone listening to “Higher” by Rihanna because ANTI had just come out. And I had a little cry and I was just like, “It’s always going to be this way, at some point with everyone it’s going to be this way.” But the song kind of ended up turning into a bit of a protective talismans for me. I was like, you know what, I’m always gonna have myself so I have to really nurture this relationship and feel good about hanging out with myself and loving myself. And the tone of the melody, the way it kind of falls around, it’s almost like it’s kind of drunk or it sort of leans around, it’s got this hip-hop cadence to it.” Stream ‘Liability‘ below. ‘Melodrama‘ by Lorde is set to be released on June 16th via LAVA/Republic Records.
