Kumail – From you to blue [EP]

Kumail From you to Blue

Mumbai-based producer Kumail has been producing for more than four years now, and as he continues to make his sound heard within the rather ambiguous dance music community, the talented act has now delivered his brand new EP. Titled ‘From you to blue‘, the 7-track effort is yet another exemplary showcase of his knack of crafting experimental releases which escape genre boundaries for its own good.

Out now via homegrown label Knowmad Records, the extended play not only sounds like a fitting follow-up to his 2016-released album ‘Links‘, but also channels Kumail’s creative genius in a profound yet hopeful manner. Kicking off the EP with ‘February (intro)‘, listeners are made to enter a moody soundscape. A brief introduction to the thematic of his latest body of work, ‘CMO‘ blends in his own brand of future electronica and its ambient counterparts for a groovy jam. Moreover, as the DAASTA collective member continues to deliver his own craft bolstered by slick intricacies, ‘Fool‘ and ‘Blue you‘ further make their presence felt on the masterful collection. Boasting of a true sense of rawness, it wouldn’t do justice to Kumail’s art if we put it solely within the realms of electronica. ‘Version‘, a vibrant and groovy piece plays around with downtempo lo-fi sounds and hauntingly echoing male vocals for a memorable outing.

A moody outro ‘Don’t Fuss‘ encaptures the essence of his latest EP, the producer also packs in a bonus track (‘Fade U‘) which sheds a bit of light as the track ascends in quiet fashion with hints of calmness which appears on its surface.

The perfect collection to soundtrack your moody moments, ‘From you to blue‘ marks tonal shifts throughout its course despite its journey being only seven tracks long.  As Kumail’s production on offer remains to be unparalleled, spacious, and impossibly textured, his latest EP is an essential package for your mid-week listening.
