What a month it has been for big releases! Bringing an end to the first quarter of 2017, March has brought us some incredible new music, including multiple massive releases from the likes of  Gorillaz, Deadmau5, Lorde, The Chainsmokers, and more while also seeing some phenomenal music from Indian heavyweights Anish Sood and Arjun Vagale.

Join us as we take a look at the Top 10 releases for the month of March 2017.

 

10. Travis Scott – Goosebumps (NGHTMRE Remix)

LA-based producer/DJ NGHTMRE caught everyone by surprise with the free giveaway of a downright, monstrous remix of Travis Scott‘s ‘Goosebumps‘. As the track kicks off with the famed rapper’s original vocals, the producer quickly speeds up the proceedings as listeners are sent into overdrive before a quick throw down of multiple kicks and snares are followed up with a brief yet nasty saw tooth synth section. An insane breakdown which hits the roof paired with a wave of trembling synths and a fulfilling load of bass, the seismic banger is set to be a festival mainstay!

 

9. Anish Sood feat. Andy Wilson-Taylor – Going Under

Having already kicked off the new year with the debut release of his own Class Action label, Indian producer/DJ Anish Sood revealed his brand new single, ‘Going Under‘ earlier this month. A fitting follow-up to his previous track ‘Don’t Stop’ featuring Charlie Sputnik, his latest release is yet another exemplary showcase of his penchant for dance-floor ready sounds. It is a groovy house anthem with layers of live piano and guitar instrumentation, punchy bass stabs, creative melodic elements, and Andy Wilson-Taylor’s strong vocals to top it all off.

 

8. The Chainsmokers & Coldplay – Something Just Like This (ARMNHMR Remix)

Currently, one of the hottest acts in the game, the rising producer/DJ duo ARMNHMR grabbed listeners’ attention with the release of their surreal remix of Coldplay and The Chainsmokers’ ‘Something Just Like This’. Following a cinematic intro, the track kicks off with Chris Martin’s soulful vocals before the energy of the track slowly builds which consequently explodes into a frenzy of futuristic synths and rich chords. A supreme effort which boasts of a slick production work, their latest remix is a mesmerizing amalgam of melody-drizzled sounds which is ought to leave listeners with a sense of euphoria.

 

7. Lane 8 & Kidnap Kid – Aba

With their unique style of creating melodic electronic music, it just made perfect sense for Lane 8 and Kidnap Kid to finally join hands to create something superior and here we have it, their new single ’Aba’. Starting off with a sweet melodic synth pattern, chopped vocals are flown into the background with warm kick drum that we know of both artists’ personal arsenal. The piano riffs create a harmony throughout the buildup to release into a soothing and mesmerising climax. ‘Aba’ is a perfect amalgamation of Daniel and Matt’s signature styles with Lane 8 vibes slightly dominating though.

 

6. Ed Sheeran – Perfect

Ed Sheeran made up for a triumphant comeback with the release of his latest studio album ‘Divide’ this month! Having already made a splash throughout the world with the success of previously unveiled singles, ‘Shape Of You’, ‘Castle On The Hill’ and more, his brand new LP continues to make waves, and while we can’t choose one winner from the album itself, ‘Perfect’ surely has stood out for many, and for good reason.

 

5. Adam Beyer vs. Pig & Dan – Capsule

If you’re an Adam Beyer fan, chances are you’ve been waiting for his collaborative effort with Pig&Dan for more than over a year now. The EP, titled ‘Capsule’ released earlier this month finally saw the Drumcode boss team up with the British heavy hitters for an enchanting effort which will rule the roost on dancefloors for time to come. And one of hottest pieces to come out of the elusive EP was none other than its massive title track. Complete with menacing synth lines, gritty percussion work, and driving basslines, a perfect amalgamation of both Beyer and Pig&Dan’s unique production style, ‘Capsule’ is the perfect soundtrack to any techno lover’s dream.

 

4. The Chainsmokers – The One

With the unveil of their debut album due next week, The Chainsmokers dropped a brand new single earlier this week. Following up to their recently released single “Paris” and “Something Just Like This“, “The One” is the intro track of their album and it does a great job at setting the mood. Starting off as a ballad, the song still heavily falls into pop territory. Led by Drew’s vocals and mellow piano sound, this song catches pace as the bass and kick hits join the mix on the drop. “The One” is a highly minimal yet strong in the feels kind of song which sounds like a fitting intro to the album.

 

3. Lorde – Green Light

Lorde made her highly awaited solo return during the start of the month with the release of her lead single ‘Green Light’ off her sophomore album ‘Melodrama’ which is set to arrive on June 16. The dance-pop tune stuck to her previous comments about the track which she described as “very different, and kinda unexpected. It’s complex and funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you DANCE.” In yet another commendable effort by Lorde, it makes up for an ingenious and fitting blend of powerful vocals and a dance-influenced production as the songstress steals the spotlight within an instant.

 

2. Deadmau5 – Polaris

Having dropped his newest studio album, “W:/2016ALBUM/“, followed by “stuff i used to do” for free earlier this year, deadmau5 treated fans with not one, but two big releases on his label compilation We Are Friends Vol. 6 released this month. While his collaboration with label regular ATTLAS, ‘Bad at Titles’ saw him explore his darker techno side, ‘Polaris’ was the progressive house gem fans had been waiting for since last year. An exemplary showcase of his signature production efforts that have found him loads of success over the years, his brand new tune is a must-hear for any dance music fan.

 

1. Gorillaz – Saturnz Barz

Carrying out the mother of all comebacks, Gorillaz made a monumental return after a long running hiatus of seven years earlier this month with the release of not one, but four massive tracks alongside an album announcement! With Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s creative outfit set to unveil their latest album ‘Humanz’ on April 28th, one of their newest releases ‘Saturnz Barz’ definitely took the crown as the top release of March 2017. Featuring Jamaican talent Popcaan on the vocals, the brilliant blend of reggae and dancehall vibes with Gorillaz’s experimental sounds is something you don’t get to listen to everyday!

 

Bonus Track: Arjun Vagale – ModMatrix

Arjun Vagale made a triumphant return to his label Odd Recordings earlier this month with the release of his solo ‘ModMatrix’ EP. With an aim to put an Odd mark on dance floors around the world, its title track made itself known as a proper techno bomb of its own kind. Pounding kickdrum and ping-pong affected electrifying synth signals throughout the single make ‘ModMatrix‘ a tune you can’t miss out on!
