While it might not be have been 30 days long, February has brought us some incredible new music, including multiple massive releases from the likes of The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Lana Del Rey, while also seeing some phenomenal music from a host of other artists. Join us as we take a look at the Top 10 releases for the month of February 2017. 10. Maroon 5 feat. Future – Cold Following the massive success of “Don’t Wanna Know”, Maroon 5 returned with their brand new single “Cold”, featuring American rapper Future earlier this month. Drifting away from their pop rock sound and more into dancehall influences, the single sees Adam Levine‘s smooth vocals accompanied by a laidback yet catchy arrangement, with Future’s verse sitting perfectly with the track. 9. Linkin Park feat. Kiiara – Heavy Ever since the release of “The Hunting Party” back in 2014, Linkin Park fans had been waiting for more! And with that being said, the highly acclaimed rock band finally got back in action with the announcement of their brand new album and a rather unconventional single release featuring the vocals of up and coming talent Kiiara. “Heavy” not only saw them enter a more pop-friendly space but also made veteran LP fans see their beloved band in new light. 8. Alesso – Falling The Swedish wonder aka Alesso placed himself back on the map with the release of his latest jam “Falling”. A perfect reminder of his fine production skills and the brand of music fans have loved to hear from him over the years, the original saw him execute what he has done best over the years. 7. Tchami – Adieu With his latest track “Adieu”, Tchami stepped away from his darker and gritter take on the genre as he utilized his latest production effort to unveil a unique new creation to his listeners. Leaning towards a more house-oriented sound, the sublime record boasts of an ethereal synth work on top of a four on the floor beat which has been further bolstered by atmospheric female vocal chops and a tender percussive effort. A surreal, progressive take on the genre, the French act’s latest might turn out to be the stepping stone towards a whole new creative avenue. 6. Flume feat. Pusha T – Enough A prime cut from the second iteration of Flume’s Skin Companion series, “Enough” sees the Australian producer try his craft in industrial hip-hop with his ever-surprising beats and dark, ethereal sound design. Featuring rap veteran Pusha T, a sophisticated, neat production from Flume works in tandem with the Pusha’s ominous rap. 5. Zedd & Alessia Cara – Stay “Stay“ marked Zedd’s latest pop-oriented effort with talented songstress Alessia Cara which instantly sounded like one of radio’s biggest hits of 2017. With yet another solid vocal effort from Alessia, she compliments Zedd’s quality production for a memorable outing. Stepping beyond genre boundaries, the producer surely succeeds as a saccharine filled yet club-ready breakdown takes over listeners’ ears. 4. Lana Del Rey – Love Lana Del Rey returned to action this month following the release of her “Love”. A dreamy single which bridges the gap between her own masterful work of dishing out a signature dreamy vocal effort and melancholy-filled soundscapes to establish a world of her own, the talented singer is gearing up to release the highly awaited follow-up to her 2015-released album, “Honeymoon”. 3. Kygo & Selena Gomez – It Ain’t Me Following several reports of Kygo and Selena Gomez dropping a collaborative record together, “It Ain’t Me” took over the music world by storm. A true representation of what he does best, the tracks pairs his signature tropical-influenced production with the pop star’s sensational vocals. A solid collaborative effort that has already taken over radio waves in no time and continues to rise up the ranks on music charts, Kygo and Selena have proved themselves to be a sure-shot power duo. 2. Calvin Harris – Slide One of the biggest collaborative joints of 2017, Calvin Harris released his highly anticipated single with Frank Ocean and Migos in February. “Slide” not only features a crooning vocal effort from Frank, but a sensual production courtesy the Scottish act works it magic in resounding fashion before the “Bad and Boujee” creators hop on the record to inject a healthy dose of hype and energy to this surreal jam. What already sounds like one of this year’s biggest summer anthems, “Slide” is poised to dominate playlists across the world. 1. The Chainsmokers & Coldplay – Something Just Like This The Chainsmokers and Coldplay dropped a bombshell upon the music industry with the surprise release of their highly awaited collaboration earlier this month. Titled “Something Just Like This”, the single is the perfect amalgamation of both the artists’ sounds, bringing forward future bass during the drop, while retaining the melodic elements that Coldplay are known for. Without a doubt their biggest collaboration so far, the duo is all set to conquer new heights in 2017.
