The Bangin Beats’ Beginner’s Guide to Eric Prydz

The Bangin Beats' Beginner's Guide to Eric Prydz

Eric Prydz is our Artist Of The Month for all of February. (At this point, if you need to know why, you can check our editorial out by clicking here). But fear not. If you want a quick guide to everything that makes Eric Prydz and his alter egos, as great as they are, we’ve listed out a few tracks that you HAVE to listen to.

Eric Prydz – Call On Me

One of his most famous tracks to date, this one features a sample of Steve Winwoods 80’s hit, Valerie. Very Peppy, and very dancey!

Cirez D – Glow

This is one of the darker few tracks, from his tech/dark moniker, Cirez D. What’s stunning about this track is the tabla-esque sounding percussion that he’s used as a lead through out the track. Very hypnotic but also very, very nocturnal.

Cirez D – On Off

On Off has been a favourite of almost every Prydz/ Cirez D fan till date. It’s got a very groovy bass-line and sub-bass. It is extremely catchy and works supremely well, especially in a dark sweaty club at peak time set.

Eric Prydz Vs Floyd – Proper Education

Probably the one of the very few artists to have ever been given the official permission to re-work a Pink Floyd track, especially one that has been so iconic. Prydz maintains almost everything about the original, and adds an electrifying bassline and beat structure to make it as relevant as ever.

Pryda – Pjanoo

A play on the word Piano, this track is characterized by its infectious keyboard riff and chord play. It has been one of Eric’s most successful tracks till date, and even has a wonderful remix by none other than the mau5

Cirez D – Tomorrow

On this Cirez D Track, Eric takes what he’s most famous for, synth arpeggios, and turns them as dark as you can imagine. This synth laden track has a very retro feel, while still being as nocturnal as any current day techno production.

Eric Prydz – Every Day

One of Eric’s and everyone else’s festival favourites. There have been countless aftermovies and festival movies that have officially used this track as it perfectly describes that exact happiness and euphoria that one would experience at a festival.

Pryda – Opus

Starting off with a really slow arpeggio, and gradually picking up pace and energy till it becomes a full blown production, the title track from Pryda’s most recent Album has to make it on our list!

Pryda – Generate

This happy, uptempo track, produced in Pryda’s signature progressive style, is one that immediately induces goosebumps from the get-go. It’s one of those euphoric tracks that will immediately find you with a huge smile plastered across your face.

Eric Prydz Vs Chvrches – Tether

This is a rework of the British electronic band’s single, which garnered massive positive responses from all his fans at every show that he’s played this track at. It was initially meant to be a private mix, i.e, not for the general public, but due to overwhelming requests from his fans, Eric finally released it to the general public.

Pryda – Muranyi

One of Pryda’s early greats, this one seems to be timeless, as is the case with all of Prydz songs. This one in particular has a distinctive, yet subtle melody that takes over as the song progresses.

Pryda – Madderferrys

Another one of Pryda’s early gems. This one’s got a really infectious hook right from the start. We’re really hoping he drops these during his set at Supersonic!

Pryda – Rotonda

More progressive than most of his work. This wondrous track has a habit of sneaking up on you, and infusing all of its energy as it picks up. This is the ideal definition of energy build up in a track! Best of luck trying to stand still on this one!

Eric Prydz – 2Night

This nifty little production, like Pjanoo (see above) has a very infectious keyboard chord progression that forms the backbone of the track. Very light-hearted yet dance-worthy at the same time!

Eric Prydz – Mirage

One of his more famous tracks, also because the mash-up with Empire Of The Sun’s We Are The People made headlines as it featured on the Tomorrowland after-movie, right when the EDM bubble was growing the world over. This one has a dreamy chord progression and haunting female vocal samples, that make it perfect for dreamlike track.
