No matter how populated the electronic music spectrum looks to be, there are only a handful in the industry who have set themselves apart in a monumental and highly significant fashion. And one such rare figure has been David Guetta. The French producer/DJ has not only been of crucial importance to craft the rise of the dance music industry as we have come to witness in recent times, but has also pushed electronic music towards the mainstream in a resounding manner. With that in mind, we at The Bangin Beats are proud to present David Guetta as our Artist Of The Month for January.

A direct outcome of his club and electro-pop oriented productions over the years, David Guetta began his adventurous journey back in the 90s’ after he discovered house music and unveiled his first single “Nation Rap” with fellow French rapper Sidney Duteil. While he continued to become a veteran within the club circuit in France, he tasted minor yet considerable success with his second single “Up & Away”.

In the process, David also introduced the world to his Gum Productions record label which he co-founded with Joachim Garraud in 2001, which was followed up with the arrival of his hit single, “Just A Little More Love” with Chris Willis. The French act was only getting started as 2002 saw him release his debut album “Just A Little More Love” and the first edition of his very own compilation series named after his “F**k Me I’m Famous” parties in Ibiza arrived in 2003.

While David continued to deliver on full-length efforts with the release of his second LP “Guetta Blaster” in 2004, the man himself steadily broke through the European market with his third album “Pop Life” in 2007 which featured his hit track, “Love Is Gone” which raced to the top of the American Dance charts.

As he entered the Top 3 on DJ MAG’s “Top 100 DJs” polls for the first time in 2009, the year aptly saw him become the poster child of the latest EDM movement that had taken over North America. With the release of his fourth album “One Love”, David dominated charts around the globe with Grammy Award winning single “When Loves Takes Over” with Kelly Rowland, “Sexy Bitch” with Akon and many more.

A colossal LP which has sold over more than three million copies till date, 2009 also saw The Black Eyed Peas team up with David Guetta for their worldwide hit “I Gotta Feeling”. While the track continues to hold its position as the “Most Downloaded Song of All-Time” in United States till date, the father of the current dance music movement stepped into 2010 with the re-issue of his fourth album titled “One More Love”.

Moreover, with production efforts for pop heavyweights Kelis and Kelly Rowland, he continued to tear the roof up with “Club Can’t Handle Me”. A high-octane single featuring Flo Rida, the track was featured on the American rapper’s third LP and was even a part of the soundtrack for Hollywood movie Step Up 3D.

His status as one of dance music’s biggest exports only continued to scale new heights as he followed up once again with the release of his fifth LP, “Nothing But The Beat”. A monumental effort which boasted of collaborations with the likes of Usher, Ludacris, Sia, Snoop Dogg provided the world with worldwide hits including “Titanium”, “Where Them Girls At”, “Little Bad Girl”, and many more. An even bigger album reissue followed suit as “Nothing But The Beat 2.0” was stacked with phenomenal tracks like “She Wolf” with Sia,Just One Last Time” and “Play Hard”.

Following the incredible success, a full length documentary also named “Nothing But The Beat” charted the rise of the French pioneer and featured guest appearances by the likes of collaborators and friends including will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg and more. 2012 also witnessed the debut of his brand new imprint, Jack Back Records with his massive collaboration with Nicky Romero for “Metropolis“.

The expansive LP not only featured collaborators including the likes of Nicki Minaj, Magic!, Sia, John Legend and more, but also followed up by a re-issue titled “Listen Again” in 2015.

David Guetta has successfully become a dance music icon on his own terms, and while doing so, the French producer was recognized as the third artist to reach 2 billion streams on Spotify. Moreover, he was appointed as the music ambassador for UEFA Euro 2016. Not only did the veteran act craft a sensational anthem with Zara Larsson, but even performed “This One’s For You” during the opening and closing ceremonies of the global event! With the additional success of his recent singles with Cedric Gervais and Robin Schulz, the French is stepping into 2017 with yet another phenomenal year in the bag.
