One of Soundcloud’s biggest Achilles heel in recent times has been the taking down of music due to copyright infringement. However, in a recent interview with German music publication Groove Magazine, Eric Wahlforss, founder of Soundcloud, has revealed that DJ mixes posted on the music sharing platform won’t be taken down anymore.

Speaking of the move, Wahlforss said:

During the negotiations for SoundCloud Go, we achieved agreement with collecting societies like GEMA in Germany, making these problems a thing of the past – even for users who do not subscribe. This means that DJ mixes are now legal and problem-free on SoundCloud. So this is a very positive news for DJs.

Soundcloud has previously drawn a lot of flak on taking down a number of remixes, and even shutting down artist accounts, with Ookay being one of the most high profile victim to fall to the latest rules and regulations. This announcement is definitely set to come as a relief to not only the well established artists, but to upcoming artists as well, who prefer uploading their music to Soundcloud instead of other streaming services.
