The newest gig concept on the block, Generation WHY is poised to be a game changer in the independent music community in India! A country renowned for being a hotbed of some of the brightest talents in music spanning several genres, the innovative property is set to put the spotlight back on some of the best emerging acts from India.
Conceptualized and curated by Aftab Khan, former Programmer/Events Executive at Hard Rock Café India, the gig series is the first of its kind to serve as a platform for fresh acts to an audience that is non-discriminatory and open to all genres. Moreover, the title is partly inspired by skate /garage punk band FIDLAR’s eponymous 2015 single “Why Generation” that encapsulates the “millennial” generation’s musings on being young and probing to find direction in the digital age.
Slated for a promising debut early next month, the first edition of Generation WHY will witness stellar new talents including hip-hop crew Swadesi, singer –songwriter act Ryan Victor Project, post rock band Cat Kamikazee and psychedelic rock quartet Milk.
And if you need something more to look forward to, the second edition of Generation WHY is already set to follow up which will take place in March 2017 at a relocated venue and will showcase 4 fresh acts spanning progressive rock, live electronica, punk and other genres!
