As dance music continues making serious inroads into pop culture, Calvin Harris has always seemed to be at the forefront of the movement. With a number of hits to his name, including ‘Summer‘, ‘How Deep Is Your Love‘, ‘Blame‘ and now ‘This Is What You Came For‘ having ingrained themselves firmly into pop music, the Scottish DJ and producer has engraved his position as a regular hitmaker.

Last night’s MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) saw Beyonce dominate with 8 awards (from 11 nominations, nonetheless), with Calvin Harris holding the flag high for dance music at the awards. Harris won the award for ‘Best Male Video‘ for ‘This Is What You Came For‘, beating out competition from the likes of Kanye West, Drake, The Weeknd and Bryce Miller, as well as the award for ‘Best Electronic Video‘ for his 2015 hit ‘How Deep Is Your Love‘. The ‘Summer‘ produce was also nominated for ‘Best Collaboration‘ and ‘Song of Summer Presented by Verizon’ for ‘This Is What You Came For‘. The other notable acts nominated were The Chainsmokers (Song of Summer Presented by Verizon, Best Electronic Video), Afrojack (Best Electronic Video), Major Lazer (Song of Summer Presented by Verizon) and Alesso (Best Cinematography).
