Axwell /\ Ingrosso are in the midst of their Ushuaia residency in Ibiza, featuring artists such as KSHMR, Don Diablo, Dirty South, Shapov, Lost Frequencies and many more. Midway through the residency, BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard caught up with Swedish maestros to discuss their memories in Ibiza, the first time they came to the island, their first residencies and much more.
Discussing their history with Ibiza, Axwell said:
We’ve been coming here for maybe like 10 years or so. Seb was here like a tourist, but I swore to never come here until I had a gig, which happened eventually.

For me, as a young kid, there were always talks about Ibiza, Erick Morrillo, Fatboy Slim. This was like the mecca back in the days when you were playing new records and stuff like that so we’ve always wanted to come here, play, and listen to new music.”
When asked about the direction dance music is taking, Ingrosso said:
What I’m looking forward to is more of the vocal house, positive vibes, good melodies, great chords, uplifting, hands-in-the-air, like back in the days in the UK and stuff like that. And also, I think that people should see all of these types of music as one type of music.
The duo also confirmed that they have more music coming up in the near future, which could either be seen in singles or in the form of an album.
We actually have some music that we’ve been working on and so we are very excited to go back to our studio that we live in.
