Perhaps a result of major nostalgia, 30-year-old classic ‘Electrica Salsa’, the 1986 track by German electronic music figurehead Sven Väth‘s OFF project is getting re-released with new remixes from Henrik Schwarz and Roman Flügel. The original was released when Sven was a 21-year old member of Frankfurt project OFF, alongside Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti and changed the face of electronic music at a time when dance music was still regarded as an underground movement from Detroit and Chicago. The latest renditions do enough justice to the original in their own way while Roman Flügel’s take undoubtedly stands out in the package. Väth said:
Roman Flügel is a friend and esteemed colleague of mine and he created a really smart version of the track, I’m sure that many people will be surprised by his remix.
Driven by a persistent thrust that is likely to give even the toughest of techno freaks an impact full vibe, Flügel’s rendition is an absolute dance-floor ready mayhem. The progressing bass line along with his diverse addition of glitchy synths lead ‘Electrica Salsa’ to a journey in deep space. Roman Flügel’s remix releases alongside the original and Henrik Schwarz’s remix and dub version on July 25th via Cocoon Recordings. Check out the preview below:
