When it comes to interviews, Nucleya is one of the most elusive artists you’ll come across in India in the electronic music scene.

However the Koocha Monster recently sat down with film critic Anupama Chopra for Film Companion to discuss his music, his inspirations, his struggle, his upbringing, his creative process in the studio and much more.

Talking animatedly about not going to after parties, he says:

I’m getting old now. I mean I’m 36. If I would’ve been in my 20s, I would have done at least 2 after parties after my performance. But I can’t do that anymore. And I feel that the amount on time I’m investing in music is already way too much, and I believe one should have balance in more or less everything in life, whether it’s music, or a relationship or anything else. So if I’m spending too much time at my shows or making music, then I’m not spending enough time with my family. So I draw a line.

For kids who go to after parties, they’ll get back home at 6 or 7 in the morning, and sleep all day. It’s not the same for me.

Talking about what inspires him, he says:

Really interesting music, interesting films. Movies like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Gangs of Wasseypur, a lot of the older stuff. I really enjoy getting inspired.

Discussing his plans for the next 5 years, he reveals:

I personally just want to make music just the way I do, and if I can do that without being worried about making money, I’ll be very happy. I don’t want to be in a situation where I’m being told what to do.
