Krewella – Ammunition [EP]

Krewella - Ammunition [EP]

Krewella had been on a hiatus ever since the departure of their third member, Rain Man. The female duo took a considerable amount of time to rediscover their sound and are now finally back with their brand new Ammunition EP. Having already belted out two singles ‘Beggars’ and ‘Broken Record’ over the course of past few weeks, their latest body of work is an elaborate 6-track record.

The EP kicks off with ‘Beggars’, their collaboration with UK duo Diskord which equips trap oriented sounds fused with drum n bass elements to deliver a heavy bass record which makes an instant impact. Next up is another known original ‘Broken Record‘ which echoes melancholic undertones and is dominated by thought provoking vocals by the Jahan sisters on top of an overall subdued production.

Marching On‘ stands out in more than one single way which sees them shift focus back on their conscious vocal efforts backed by a somber production on an overall basis which incorporates tribal percussion elements in slick fashion. ‘Surrender The Throne‘ kicks off on a mellow note with a guitar laden intro and vocals before it changes its complexion with a heavy drum n bass lead with a repetitive topline. A radio friendly record if it had to be reckoned with, it does work out pretty well.

The penultimate track goes by the namesake of the title of the EP and puts the spotlight on the vocals yet again. The production by the ‘revamped’ Krewella as they are to go by seems to have taken a hit from multiple directions which does grab spotlight once you’re done listening to the EP in all its entirety. ‘Can’t Forget You‘ brings down the curtain on their latest record and is a vocal track backed by a heavy guitar laden work which ultimately brings out a piece which almost leans towards the alt. rock/pop wall .

An introspective feature which has its high and lows, Krewella does make us think of whether ‘less is actually more‘. A brave and inspiring comeback by the sister duo, you can grab your copy here!
