Watch This: Moby Reveals The Dirty Secret Of The World Of EDM

Having been in the dance music scene for nearly 4 decades, Moby is considered one of the most important dance music figures we have today. So when a man of his stature speaks up, you sit up and take notice.

Talking to legendary TV show host Larry King on the Larry King Now show, Moby discusses the phenomenal growth of dance music since 2007-08, and the role of drugs being associated with the genre. Taking the example of EDC, and calling it a cross between  “Cirque du Soleil and the Olympics”, he says:

Immediately I understood, if you’re an 18-year-old kid and you’re given the chance to be with 75,000 other 20-year-olds or 19-year-olds and take ecstasy and dance and be exposed to the best sound and the best visuals you’ve ever seen… it’s hard not to get caught up in that.

Further discussing the consumption of drugs at events like these, he says that the number of people not on drugs is a statistical anomaly.
