The Iceland based festival, Secret Solstice is touted as one of the most innovative ones in the festival landscape, mainly due to its knack of choosing the craziest and unorthodox places to host a party. After inviting 70 fans to attend an ‘ice rave’ last year as they hosted the world’s first party in a glacier, the crew at Secret Solstice are planning to, once again up the ante with an ambitious yet crazy concert planned for inside a dormant volcano.
Yes, you heard that one right! The attendees will be taken via helicopter from Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík, to the Thrihnukagigur volcano, for the first ever performance inside a volcano by an artist who is yet to be announced, for the crowd to witness. Talking about the same, Secret Solstice director Fred Olafsson says,
“We have someone special, though we want attendees to be surprised when we announce who it is at a later stage. I will say that it will be an acoustic performance by a very famous name, and we promise guests will be impressed when we finally make the big reveal.”
Adding to the already impressive spectacle will be the festival’s clash with Summer Solstice itself which will provide fans with three days of constant sunlight, and truly making it a Midnight Sun affair. With a Phase One lineup having already been announced, the audience will be treated to the likes of Radiohead, Skream, Art Department, Die Antwoord, Action Bronson and more. Secret Solstice is set to take place from 16-19th June in Reykjavik.
