Dusky – Lydia [EP]

Electronic music duo Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman aka Dusky by their group stage name are an influential artist brand from the British lands. The duo have had a great and successful time since the inception of their 17 Steps imprint, and are once again back on it to carry ahead their much regarded legacy.

This time it is their new ‘Lydia’ EP that is a three-track refinement of the liveliness currently swelling through their sets. Looking at the highly successful 2015 for the label with a handful of landmark releases, the EP as it seems to be a year closeout material from the duo, does not reflect respite in energy whatsoever.

The title number comes off as a fuzzy take on Dusky’s flexible sound, paired seamlessly with sharp tech house punches and tart acid work. While ‘Bitter Lake’ goes European main room techno, with sweet tinges of their signature style, yet manages to hold itself as updated. ‘Infinite Libido’ is the third tech house record on the EP, and kicks in with their well-known melodic sound giving it a perfect edge over club floors and forms one of the purest pieces of production you might have heard in a long time.
