Know Your Artist: Oliver Huntemann

Without any doubt, Germany based techno legend Oliver Huntemann has garnered a status of one of the most reputed personalities in the world of dance music. Possessing a long catalogue of musical recordings including collaborations with Dubfire, Bodzin and remixes for Chemical Brothers, John Dahlbäck and Cirez D, Huntemann’s journey has always been in dedication towards the upliftment of underground music scene around the world.

As one of Hamburg’s finest exports and a bona fide techno legend has kicked-off his India tour for a brand new Dimension Red showcase, we bring you his Top 5 #Bangin Tracks that you must listen before experiencing him live.

SCHATTEN

Anchored by an industrial, mechanised drive and flash-like synth touches, ‘Schatten’ is driving and throbbing with a rapid bassline, while the acidic stabs set just the right pace over the drop. A top-notch construction from the German producer taking his foot off gas and allowing the groove to dominate!

DIABLO

One of the early collaborations of Oliver Huntemann with techno maestro Dubfire, ‘Diablo’ was released over Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings label back in 2008. Still one of the strongest spot holder in Huntemann’s sets, ‘Diablo’ is a timeless classic showcasing the best of both legends.

RIKARDA

Techno at its finest, ‘Rikarda’ has been our top favourite since it was released. The 124 bpm track at first might appear light on brain or body but the thumping sequence with modernised techno elements in between, ‘Rikarda’ wouldn’t stop and gradually gets even wickeder.

AGUA

Another massive collaboration of Oliver Huntemann with the legendary Dubfire, ‘Agua’ comes off the fourth and final instalment of their seminal ‘Elements’ series. ‘Agua’ glides smoothly with hot sultry vocal of Xenia Beliayeva and pounding kicks that are just enough to heat up the atmosphere in any club.

SCHWARZLICHT

Hot off the Senso studios, ‘Schwarzlicht’ is a release by Oliver that is straight yet futuristic, vicious yet pure, physical yet cerebral and would break any dance floor with its first beat. Having already witnessed Huntemann open his set with this one at the Delhi edition of Dimension RED, our cravings have been calmed to an extent, still we can’t wait to listen ‘Schwarzlicht’ again in Mumbai tonight.
