Having become a symbol of commercial dance music, with his pop crossover collaborations, or his own productions which rule mainstages, David Guetta has become a mainstream icon in the world of dance music today. But in his latest Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, he showed everyone that he still hasn’t forgotten his roots.
The two hour mix, which everyone was expecting to be filled with big room sounds and his upcoming music, turned out to be Guetta’s homage to house music. Talking about the Essential Mix, he said:
“This is what I used to play when I first started to DJ. It brought me back to some amazing memories of DJing from the time when I started playing house music in 1988 until now. A lot has been changing, but my heart is still the same, and the music is still real.“
