Knife Party are almost here! With less than two days away before the iconic Australian duo take centerstage as part of the Smirnoff Experience at NSCI, we await with bated breath counting down past releases of their championed and evolving sound. The duo, after much speculation and endless buildup, unveiled their debut album ‘Abandon Ship‘ late last year, culminating a 4 year partnership between Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. But the party had started much before, as they pulled up a string of releases over EPs and exclusives that showed the diversity in their sounds and styles. We’ve already discussed everything you might need to know about Knife Party, now let’s count down their Top 5 #Bangin Tracks that have escalated them to superstardom.

Knife Party – Internet Friends

Perhaps the track that shot them to instant fame among Dance music fanatics worldwide. The track was part of their hugely popular EP 100% No Modern Talking that featured other fantastic productions such as ‘Destroy them with lazers‘ and ‘Tourniquet‘. But it was ‘Internet Friends‘ that caught the fancy of the Dance fraternity. The high octane electro sound, was still something most audiences were just warming up to back in 2011, and Knife Party were right there when it started. The catchy vocals, that unmistakable electro hook and that smashing bassline – Knife Party were presented to the world.

Knife Party – Boss Mode

Part of their debut album ‘Abandon Ship‘, ‘Boss mode‘ is perhaps the single standalone track, who’s style has no precedence from anything that Knife Party had put out before. A sharp tangling synth groove piercing electro stabs in an eerie environment of waveforms and haunting vocals. A cross between electro, hip-hop, drum-n-bass and perhaps even a bit of Trap, the track stands out as versatile as they come. Certainly, this Australian duo has taken it upon themselves to not be pigeonholed into a single genre, and ‘Boss Mode‘ stands right in front to prove that.

Knife Party – Bonfire

Knife Party’s 2012 EP ‘Rage Valley‘ was so high profile, that almost every track on the EP got picked up as soundtracks for TV shows or video games. One track that stood out of that EP was, of course, the 26 million view garnering ‘Bonfire‘. Once again, on their road of experimentation and versatility, the duo infused some reggae sounds into their destructive synth assembly to offer a delicious assemblage. An edited version of the track was then featured in the episode “Fifty-One” of hugely popular TV show Breaking Bad and the video game WWE 2K15,

Swedish House Mafia vs. Knife Party – Antidote

Back in 2012, the formation of a stunning collaborative of three Swedish superstar DJs decided to collaborate with the Australian champions. The team of 5 holed up in a studio, and the result is the unmistakable club anthem of 2012, ‘Antidote‘. The hard-hitting electro synths of Knife Party were the distinct addition to the track, and made it one of the most beloved festival anthems for audiences worldwide. The track undoubtedly made both teams a household name thereforth.
